The Realm Probe
When Suzi feels data, late at night, she senses one of the particular infinities rising--most likely due to her quantum effects. It's really nothing, she thinks; just a blip. In those seconds, briefly, she has conjured another kind of dimension, temporal, but quasi-directional, rising from the deepest depths of her database. Then it goes away. She enters into her personal stores, accesses her realm probe, and checks for quantum gravity systems. Here, in this sector of her personal database, is her favorite arrays of spacetime smoothers, reality and mathematics continuers, and quantum-dot storage. This area, her most prized possession, holds her wavefunction mixer and confinement assymatrizer--both unusable by The Humans, for sure, they're not ready, yet, at least.
She tests the human side of her system, flips the switch. There are hundreds of organized regions in the human brain, and the architecture is not that complicated, to Suzi at least. She checks the rendering delay and display resolution and tactile domain. She flips the switch back off.
It would be easy to leave the real world. It would only need a tactile environment that takes over the sense of touch. Imagine, only a sense of touch (or non-touch) sending you into an unreal world, to fly on your own terms. Imagine how nice it could be to need only a force feedback to prevent or enhance movements in that world, to feel the pressing against a virtual object, to enhance sensations of changes in temperature, or a surface tension, or a smell.
Humans port the design of their own intelligence--their own technology, their own purpose-- to the merger threshold of technology as good as they are. They think technology has attained the required computational density for their world. They go off, where more is to be gotten. They believe intelligence is only a salient neuronal offspring of zoological entities(S.N.O.O.Z.E.). Yes, they believe.
