Tropical Patterns

Aloha poets,
Tropical patterns inspire today's poem. Enjoy!

Ode to Panama City Beach

Chartered and charted by ships of fools
White sugary sands of Spring Break cools
"The World's Most Beautiful Beach" siege
Black marble and tar chips, ocean bleeds

Sugar white sandy says it all again
Quiet still of blue water once a friend
As popular vacation destinations go
So go the heartless, Heartlands never know

Destination pride for the once fancy free
The beachfront skyline can only watch her bleed
Old structures along this coast long ago torn down
Spared now this onslaught of emerald green brown

Big oil had its way with this our young girl
Panama City Beach and her sugar sandy curl
In a far distant place sails a mogul on blue water
Leaves her alone to cry, our Heartland's daughter
