Turtle Trust

Aloha poets,
Sea turtles in the Gulf oil spill need a trusted hand more
than ever. This giant tortoise inspire today's poem. Enjoy!

Green Hues, Offshore Sea Turtles...

                                    ...a real life G.H.O.S.T. story?

Technically colorful, these toxins of ours
Rainbow sheen to blue-green on the shores
Teardrop-shaped hull reveals true feelings
Day 63 sea turtles' sloshings and reelings

Our hand of trust needs now to extend
Green Sea Turtles swim around the last bend
Last seen headed east to Gulf's oiled waters
Will any stay alive for our sons and daughters?

To hide and seek in a Sargasso sheen
Dinner, a little seagrass amid black gasoline
Dark paddle flippers glide and trudge
To join the fight against BP sludge
