Sunset Skyline

aloha poets,
Sunset skyline inspires today's poem. Enjoy!

Economy Ignominy
                                "...a conservation conversation..."

In terms of a hot seller there's a lot to say
High inventory protects from rush and fray
Increased orders suddenly serve up brisk
In a frosty climate sellers saddle the risk

Expensive freight orders soon mount and rise
Warehouses receive to process for the little guys
Out of stock in a credit crunch will likely penalize
Bowing to fear shears, cuts economics to downsize

A network with a glitch is the dilemma facing all
Cut back is fraught with danger you make the call
Convert your people over surely you have the goods
Sales gangbusters bring you again from the woods

A return to sound footing soon finds dicey ground
Goods pile up on shelves to an eerily silent sound
Only to be further depleted by another slow down
As consumer cut back, conservation's joy found

Back at the warehouse where they stock the shelf
Exotic instruments in sales need another elf
Imported goods collect while retail sales fall
Spending follows suit, soon slumps stand tall

Planned promotions push back, orders cut
A drop in price can even cause its own rut
Boost growth with filled shelves of stock?
Stronger sales just ahead, watch the clock

Can't get those hot sellers so cut prices again
Layed-off workers out there blow in the wind
Loaded inventory wooden pallets forklift thin
Selling short drags down, another ship comes in

New inventory runs high now growth steps down
Consumers set sail as retail fights another round
Influx of white elephants, profits they dragged
Persist the unemployed, consumer confidence bagged

Economics is the hero to which cultures bow
Shelves stocked or depleted, yet farmers still plow
To speed up or slow down, ringing doorbells befall
To join in the conversation, survival makes a call
