Sunset Surf

aloha poets,
Sunset surf inspires today's poem. Enjoy!

Politics v. Biology

The debate rages on and on and... on
Is it politics or biology humans draw upon
Is behavior dictated by groups of the few
Or are individuals driven by distinctive hue

Ethical reasoning has its own quandary
Old ideas still get taken out to the laundry
Accent of the times may lead a life along
Accidents of common calm sings in solo song

In casts of long shadows politics rings wrath
As if trucks leaving tracks along a wide swath
With no coming curbs they dash with impunity
Blind to the coming curves, crash into immunity

Vast brands blaze new paths toward ignominy
To flatter certain eagernesses into a harmony
Breeders of faction or indiscriminate criminal?
A beast with an appetite this human animal

As bywords of lawlessness pervade the collective
Cries heard and claws fester to invade the eclectic
Polishing up new proposals, oblivious to the obvious
Anarchic echo of ruinous ages slip past as salacious

So what does all this mean in the quiet and the still?
Social networks hope to unify with absolute infinite will
Incentivizing with assassins and burnings at the stake
Biology remains the master; while we sleep, it stays awake
